My experience in the USA was a memorable one.
I made a lot of friends at my workplace. The people were friendly and treated me with respect.
It was indeed an awesome experience.

I spent my summer (2006) in the States through AWE. And guess what, it was more fun than I could ever have imagined though work was quite demanding.

I made friends from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey and Romania. To talk of money, I could never have imagined myself with thousands of dollars in hand even after being such a spendthrift in the States. So, go for it and have fun.
